lost pet info

I have a pretty depressing request. Does anyone know if there is a way to get information on whether an animal has been hit on a certain street and possibly picked up by the police etc? Our cat has been missing for 6 days and his collar was found lying on the side of the road...

I wish I knew how to help, this must be so awful and upsetting for you. If you post your cat's description, I'll keep an eye out (I live near Magoun Square, if that's at all local to you).
