lost pet info

I have a pretty depressing request. Does anyone know if there is a way to get information on whether an animal has been hit on a certain street and possibly picked up by the police etc? Our cat has been missing for 6 days and his collar was found lying on the side of the road...

Try getting in touch with Angel Memorial hospital, down in Boston somewhere. My cat was hit by a car around Davis, and some kind soul drove him all the way down there! Luckily he had kept his collar on, so I got a phone call. (And amazingly enough, my cat made it through! :)
