lost pet info

I have a pretty depressing request. Does anyone know if there is a way to get information on whether an animal has been hit on a certain street and possibly picked up by the police etc? Our cat has been missing for 6 days and his collar was found lying on the side of the road...

thanks for your kind words... here's a description of our cat for those who volunteered to keep an eye out. He was last seen by our house on Medford St., between Bartlett and Glenwood- east of Magoun Square. He's a medium-size black-and-white male named Hernando, with a mostly black face and a paunch. He weighs 14 lbs. He's very vocal.
