We actually tried to go to the Savannah Grill last Saturday and ended up being the first customers at Martsa's, instead. I thought it was quite good. They were having a few first-night issues--the credit card machine wasn't working yet and the kitchen seemed a tad slow, but we were in a huge hurry, so it might have been us. The momo's were awesome and the lentil soup was one of the tastier examples I've ever tasted. I didn't taste anyone else's entrees (the beef stew that's the first item on the menu and the chili chicken) but they seemed happy with theirs. My chicken with mushrooms was in a very delicate sauce that I thought needed a little more salt, but was quite nice, really.
i went on sunday - i was completely surprised to see it there so i went in. i had stir-fried beef with potatoes and onions and it was good and comforting, more like fall or winter food than a summer dinner. it was also reallllly filling. (altho i also got rice and momo, so i was just eating a lot overall.) i'd never had tibetan food before, and i enjoyed it.
oops, i'd heard savannah grill was good too, and i'd kept meaning to go there. ah well. anyone been to that tibetan place in teele sq up by jp oryan's? how do they compare?
I've been to the place in Teele Sq but not to Martsa's, so I can't compare. I liked the food at the Teele Sq place though (momos there are delicious), and it's nice and cheap. I'll have to get to Martsa's next time I get to Davis area (which might be a little while -- I guess I should write an introductory post explaining my complex relationship with Davis Square, since I just joined this community...)
