Hey all,

Anyone know of a local business that brings sick virus-stricken PCs back to life? Anyone have any first-hand experience with any of them or have ya driven by or heard of any local computer repair shops that do this? (This is for a PC, not a Mac.)

Thanks!

There's a place in the Harvard Vanguard building on Holland St, but I don't know anything about them. I tagged ths computer repair. Take a look though the old posts and see if any of them are helpful.

It wasn't a virus problem, but when I had a hardware problem, Angeltronics, right by Au Bon Pain, was pretty good to me, and I'm sure they could help you out.

That's the place I was thinking of above. I couldn't remember the name.

I've had good results with Dynamic Computers (http://www.dynamic-computers.net/) on High St. in West Medford. Warning: the website plays audio. Please try not to judge them by that, or by the very wrong apostrophe in their name on the sign.

I've never patronized any of the computer repair places in the area so I can't really make any recommendations on that front but I am an IT professional myself and would be willing to take a look at your machine for free. I live up the street in Teele Square but probably this is something that could be fixed using a remote-login program like LogMeIn that would allow me to control your computer from here. If you wouldn't be comfortable with that or if it's not something that can be fixed remotely I'd be happy to stop by some evening or weekend.

Besides, I've been into Magpie so many times lately without actually buying anything that I kind of feel like I owe it to you guys :-)

I don't know the names of either of them, but I all the time ride my bike past two computer repair shops. One of them is on Beacon Street, I think not too far from Porter, on the right side as you head toward Cambridge. The other is on Summer Street, not too far from that gas station, on the left side as you head away from Union Square. Sorry I don't have more details.
