I'd like to buy a sled today for some preschool-aged kids I know. It doesn't have to be fancy - your basic plastic model with handles or grips is just fine. So far I've checked with Stellabella, Tags, Shaw's, and Target, and no one has them. Well, Tags and Shaws has these weird rolled-up plastic "sheets," that I guess you can sled on, but that's really not what I'm going for.

Has anyone seen or bought sleds around here recently? I do have a car, although I'm sure driving will be an adventure today. :)

Sports Authority at Assembly Square had a good selection of the basic plastic ones last winter so, if you can't find one closer, it might be worth giving them a call.

I saw them at Target last week. They might be gone now. I'd call first.

Ooops! Sorry, you already checked Target. Did you check both the one on Somerville and the one in Everett? I saw them in Everett.

Check the Christmas Tree Shop at Assembly Square, I got a sled there last year. It was a blow up tube, but they may have the regular plastic ones too.

EMS in Harvard Sq had fancy sleds if you can't find a place with the basic kind.

In general, sporting goods stores are a better bet for reasonably sturdy sleds than are toy stores. You might call the sporting goods stores at the Fresh Pond Mall and ask them:

Olympia Sports--617-354-1284
Modells--(617) 441-0050

Is there a hardware store nearby? We got some metal saucers at the one near us in Allston. They had some others too.

Does Henry Bear's Park in Arlington have any?

K-B Toys is liquidating. I don't know if they have sleds in stock, but call them and ask. The closest ones to here are in the Cambridgeside Galleria and the Burlington Mall.
