Do you have an old GSM cell phone?
Jan. 4th, 2009 09:58 amSo our cell phone met its untimely fate in a puddle of icy water, and we need to replace it. Do any of you have an old (or new) GSM cell phone (unlocked or T-mobile) that you'd be willing to sell or give. I'm very wary of buying a phone from Craigslist as there's a lot of stolen electronics out there, and we need a phone nowish so other internet sources take a long time. We'd be happy with whatever you've got and if it's not fancy enough, it will at least get us through until we can order a new one. Post here or by private message and thanks all in advance.

I loved it so much I wound up keeping it, although I eventually got an iPhone. But now it makes a great spare. It's cheap, super-thin, has an e-Ink display that looks fantastic, and ridiculous battery life (like 9 days on standby). Very, very primitive but it does the job and it's nice to have around as a backup. Amazon will overnight it to you for $16 or 2-day for $10.
