Date: 2009-01-10 05:49 pm (UTC)But the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, and I think it would be hard for Somerville not to declare a snow emergency in the face of a NWS warning.
Is the National Weather Service more "twitchy" this year? I don't know.
But then again, we have already had more storms that meet the fixed NWS definition of a winter storm than for the past few years.

Date: 2009-01-10 07:31 pm (UTC)Of course, the NWS warning goes into effect n hours before they expect snow to start falling, so when all is said and done, the flakes may not even begin for 6 hours after the Somerville emergency goes into effect...
Be prepared, I guess...

Date: 2009-01-10 06:09 pm (UTC)But the Somerville snow emergency doesn't have anything to do with the NWS storm warning. Somerville declares an emergency when the forcecast says 4 inches or more.

Date: 2009-01-11 02:12 am (UTC)Though park on Kidder at your own risk when there's snow and ice. I've come over that hill once to many times only to realize there was a frozen sheet of ice on the other.
