I've edited the original post but in the event that some people miss it:

Game night is NOT happening as planned on the first Sunday of February.
I was going off of Green Tomato II's website but there are signs in the windows alerting all that they are actually closed on Sundays.
So, no Sunday game night.

1. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where a game night might be held? The requirements need only be that it is accessible to all ages, preferably have food or beverages available, have enough seating so that game playing isn't a nuisance...

2. Would another day be suitable? I'd prefer it not be monday through Friday but that's just me; most people have other things to do on Saturdays, too, so Sunday would seem amenable...

Suggestions?

I suggest, unless the location is a place clearly set up in part to be a gathering spot of that sort, to be sure to check with management before announcing anything to make sure they'd actually want a group like us in the first place.

I would definitely suggest clearing your event with management before rescheduling.

Rudy's? PJ Ryan's? Joshua Tree? The Burren?

Yeah, definitely call the place first.

The library? The main branch is open on Sundays. Maybe you could use the meeting room.

Library isn't such a bad idea.

some public libraries require groups that use their meeting rooms to have insurance; this might be something to watch out for. definitely ask at the library.

Huh. Played games at my local library as a kid with no problem, but sure never hurts to check first anyhow!

Sorry to read this, as I was looking forward to the resumption of game nights. What happened here -- Green Tomato first told you this would work well, then later decided to close on Sundays?

They seem to be having some issues, possibly suffering from the same location curse that killed the last few restaurants in that space. Their website says they're open 6am to 8pm every day, but someone on another forum tried to go there last Saturday for breakfast and reported that they are supposedly closed for breakfast until spring, and closed entirely on Sundays.

Just a thought...

I think Sundays are good, and I was bummed that GT2 doesn't work out because (as a mom of a 5 yr old), I was looking forward to setting up a kid-friendly game at a place with something on the menu my kid will eat.

I keep thinking of Good Food Cafe over on Mass Ave in North Cambridge. According to their website, they are open Sundays until 9pm (and in light of recent economics, good to call and check their hours: http://jimsgoodfood.com/

Most of the tables are 2-seaters, but there are some 4-seaters and a nice couch and coffee table area, plus the decor is so cheery, and the food is good (salads, sandwiches and smoothies). If it's generally not packed on Sundays from 3-8, I don't see how the owner would not be amenable to a gaming group hanging out and buying food and beverages. (Plus on Sundays, drivers don't have to worry about feeding meters and resident-only restrictions).

If I'm there in the next few days, I'll ask Jim about this...
