I called 311 this week about Christmas tree disposal.

I haven't seen any trees picked up on our street at all and as time has gone one our sidewalks have 1-2 trees on the curb. The city claims that the tree pickup got delayed because DPW has been busy with snow removal, which makes sense, but also said (despite the forecasted storm this week) that they'd be picking up trees by "the end of the month".

Anyone want to place bets as to which month? July?

But seriously - we're in the Tufts area - have they just not picked up trees anywhere in town,
or is it only our neighborhood that's been long-forgotten?

Sigh. I'm tired of clearing the sidewalk snow with the trees as an extra obstacle.

We just called 311 about this earlier today. They told us the same thing. We're over a couple blocks outside the square, so it's not just you who is long-forgotten. :)

Our tree was at the curb for 3 weeks, but the got it last week. I had called and they said the same thing. I think they're getting to them when they can.

We had trees picked up on our street early in January, fwiw.

I don't think any of the trees on Spencer Ave have been picked up. Several are stuck in snow drifts now though.

Lower Winter Hill here, and similar issues. The tree has been passed up twice now, and I sent a message to 311 asking about this, since this week is "technically" the last week they'll be doing yule bush pickups...

Glad to hear it's not just me and our neighborhood!

It's no longer the last week for pickup; see below.

There's a new announcement about this on the Somerville city website:

Disposal of Christmas Trees Extended: Pickup Extended Through February 13

Hmmm... My first reaction is I wish I'd seen this sooner. But, upon further reflection think it probably would have lead us to keep our tree up until almost Valentine's Day.

The obvious solution is to light the trees on fire and kill two birds with one stone.
