Luck of the Irish?

A girl stopped by my door today selling raffle tickets for her junior high, the raffle was called Luck of the Irish.  I didn't have any money and asked her to come back later, but I wasn't really sure what this was.  Any help?

Somerville doesn't have public junior high schools. Or was it a Catholic school?

Where do kids in grades 7 thru 9 (or 6 thru 8) go to school in this town?

Most Somerville elementary schools are K-8. The Brown School is K-6, and I think those kids go to the Kennedy for 7-8.

Somerville used to have three junior high schools. The Western is now the Tufts Administration Building (TAB) on Holland Street. The Southern was torn down; its site is now Nunziato Field and the Community Growing Center on Vinal Ave. I forget where the Northeastern was or what happened to it.

Sounds like a scam to me. You know the economy is bad when Junior High girls are hitting people up door to door for cash.
