Joe Lynch show last night
Feb. 25th, 2009 05:01 pmAnyone catch "Greater Somerville with Joe Lynch," the public access show, last night with Steven Kennedy Smith (maxpak developer) as a guest? The SJ stated he was going to discuss maxpak and the community path extension, I'm anxious to know if anything new was mentioned, but I don't have Somerville cable. SJ had a video of a previous show with Carl Sciortino, but I don't know where that came from, if it was there's or embedded from someone else.

I saw it
Date: 2009-02-26 04:29 pm (UTC)The main point of the 30 minutes was that breaking-ground/construction has been delayed to 2010 due to the economy. According to Kennedy Smith, it doesn't make sense for them to remove the rail ties before then, effectively delayng the community path extension as well. That's a shame, but as Lynch kept pointing out, there are many many moving parts with this development project, including considerations about the Green Line extension, the new bridge that will be required to deal with the traffic, and the community path.
My impression of Kennedy Smith was much more positive than I anticipated. He seems to have gone out of his way to collect community input, and they have made many assurances to long-time residents and other special interest groups that we can only hope he upholds.
