Dear Davis Square LJ,

i know many of you have lived here longer than i have (~1.5 years), so i pose the following question to y'all: where are the really good sledding spots near Davis Square / in and around Somerville?  i'm not looking for the best spots all over Boston, just the ones within spontaneous wandering distance.

Thank you, thank you!

The President's Lawn at Tufts is pretty good.

Seconded. Walkable from Davis, nice long runs, and a neat combination of actual kids on saucers and tubes and college kids on cafeteria trays.

A really old post on this subject.

An even older one.

Surely the oldest one.

(My suggestion: Danehy Park, off Sherman Street in Cambridge.)

Given that the most recent post before yours was over three years old, it's fine to have a new one. They were inconsistently tagged, anyway (some 'parks', some 'local sports')

Thanks, thanks for filling me with terror that Michael Berryman might be lurking in Somerville AT THIS EXACT MOMENT.

I would actually like to meet him at some point, if for no other reason than to say I've met a man who has no sweat glands.

I see people sledding at the park in Powderhouse a lot. Be careful not to sled into the street, though!

There's a good hill in Medford - I think it's called Hastings Park. Go to High St. in West Medford and head north up Allston or Mystic St.

Cool. However, I'd have trouble actually locating a hill that is described only this way:

No Name
Hyde Park , MA Country: USA
Type: Sled Hill
Desc: There is a nice hill across from the basketball court.

There are great hills

we always go up the hill next to the tufts main campus library (not the side that heads down to the major street (totally blanking on the name right now, but it's the street the gym is on and that heads into the powderhouse rotary).
