As for what they've done, no idea. But they've already had an effect. Just look at their updates; the projected number of houses that will be broken into this year dropped by 26, just by posting on the Internet.
I run the google group and the info is obtained from the local crime blog at the Somerville Journal. The group was started 3 weeks ago and it aims to bring awareness about the fact that homes are broken into everday in somerville. We believe that the police are doing a great job, but the best way to protect ourselves is for everyone to pay attention and to be alert. Lets face it, we all live in neighborhoods and reconize the peple who we see day in and day out. If everyone paid a little more attention to the "out of place" people, then the break ins should subside.
