Maybe for the kids? Or as an extra clever doorstop?

It's actually quite functional. Just not up to today's speeds and depth of computing power.

It's got:

333 Megahertz! Zooom!
30 MB hard drive (or maybe 40?)
System 8.6! (That's like 10 years old, almost.)
some basic software (and an oddly large percentage of Micros**t stuff), like Apple Works, Quicktime, NanoSaur, but not much more
It looks like it could do internet, but you'd need to know how to set it up, as it doesn't know how to find the cable modem on it's own, and it's going to get unpleasant if you try to watch YouTube or anything fancy like that. :-) The last time it had a connection to the internet it was using a modem on the phone line, with Netscape 4.something.
Keyboard and Mouse.
CD-ROM
USB ports

It would be fine for a preschool classroom, or just some young kid who wants to play around with their own computer, for simple writing and drawing. But if you want to get anything off of it, you'd need a floppy or zip or CD-W drive with the driver software to make it work.

Or... turn it into some big art piece!

Most compelling request takes it!

And I might even be able to deliver it on my bike trailer, if you're in Somerville or Cambridge. Otherwise, pick up would be on Spring Hill, near the Hospital.

Just wanted to say that Nanosaur: Awesome. I never really understood the object of the game, but I could eat those colorful circly things like nobody's business

If it speaks DIN-8, I've got a free printer to go with it!

I'm sure some vintage Mac hack will be pleased to discover it at the Davis Square Yard Sale this summer.

I *may* be interested. I want a Mac to use with the iPhone SDK but I can't justify another new machine. I'll have to do a little research to see what old hardware is supported by new versions of OSX and the SDK. Do you know if it's actually 30/40 MB and not 30/40 GB? The 350mhz iMac I found and gave away a couple years ago had a 30GB disk and ran Tiger, so I'm hoping this is a similar model. Umm. Is the CD drive a slot or tray loader?

doesn't the iPhone SDK use Xcode 3.1? which would necessitate certain things like an Intel CPU and OS 10.5?

none of these things are going to exist on a tangerine G3 iMac.

Yes. iPhone SDK needs both Intel cpu and Leopard.
