Anybody else notice the traffic lights blinking red on 16, at Mass Ave and Alewife ( not sure about Broadway ) just now?

No idea what was showing on the cross streets, but was able to get home fast as all heck, and there wasn't nearly as much honking as you'd expect. Methinks those lights are heavily biased against 2-to-16 east traffic.

Don't know if other nearby interesections are affected.

For the ob-Davis content; I think Ward 7 is close enough.

Sounds like an interesting experiment. The city should try this periodically in other places such as Davis and Union squares.

I went through the Mass Ave and 16 intersection at about 4:50 and everything was normal then.

they turn it on blinking periodically when traffic's light.. though given the time, I'd argue that's not now.. but traffic was strangely light tonight in general..

I have never seen the lights blinking there...I drive that way all the time (morning, night, weekends). Strange.

The rotary at the end of Rt2 also had blinking lights around 5:15. After I went through the rotary and continued down 16 the Mass Ave lights were also blinking which would be about 2 mins later :)

Light never changed at Rindge & 16

Late last night (and also late last Thursday night), I was on Ridge trying to make a left onto 16 (near the Alewife station), and the light never turned green. After waiting the equivalent of 3 light cycles, I finally gave up and made the turn when no one was coming on 16. I kept watch in my rear-view mirror and never saw the light change. Something odd is going on there.

I noticed this yesterday, at the junction of 16 and Mass Ave. around 530 or so. My thought was, "Wow, someone's going to get f'ing destroyed here." Hopefully the F-16 pilot-like driving reflexes that Massachusetts has imbued in all of us prevented a major accident from occurring.
