"The Winter’s Tale"
by William Shakespeare
Directed by Kamela J. Dolinova

Featuring live, original music written by Michael Veloso

"The Winter's Tale" explores themes of jealousy, leadership, love, and forgiveness. A jealous king nearly topples his own kingdom when he falsely accuses his queen of adultery with his childhood friend. Years later, in the pastoral landscapes of his old friend's kingdom, the seeds are planted for reunion, redemption, and rebirth.

Tragedy. Romance. Redemption. Exits pursued by Bears.

This, after Coriolanus, will be the second Shakespeare play I see this year that I have never before read or seen performed.

Well first, EXIT PURSUED BY BEAR, obviously. And dildos. I love the dichotomy between the more psychological aspects of the play and then the GRAND CRAZY WACKYTIME ending (don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read/seen it!) The characters are some of the richest in any Shakespeare play, I feel.

Oh god I could go on forever, but I am at work. Augh. Someday I shall wax poetic on the Bard forever and ever.

"How cool is it that Actors' Shakespeare Project decided to locate at the Armory?"

Very very cool. They are my neighbors now!

The production of Coriolanus makes awesome use of the new performance space (hard to believe it was was the old dingy drill hall!) It's a really versatile space.

This event next Monday looks good:

[livejournal.com profile] desireearmfeldt can testify that Archduke Franz Ferdinand's castle in Bohemia was in fact decorated entirely with antlers and stuffed heads.
