It sounds like there is a lot of neutral, a lot of negative, and a lot of positive (though "better than traffic noise" is not exactly a stellar endorsement of airplane noise). It sounds like there is some room for improvement and increased variety in the type of noise that we are confronted with in the square. Comments?

increased variety could mean more helicopters, which could be fun, or hot air balloons with musicians in the baskets which has its good points but would be awkward if you sunbath in your backyard sans clothing, i guess.

Yes, but can we choose what musicians are in the hot air balloons? I want some VARIETY damn it....especially if I am sunbathing nude...

U2 in the hot air balloon.

They have to wear clothes, though.

That's a big hot air balloon. I'm just thinking of the equipment required to amplify...

Then it will just have to be a zepplin.

Hmm, I am pondering the decibel rating of a zeppelin.

Why would you carry an airplane in a hot air balloon? Wouldn't that be redundant?

From: [identity profile] plumtreeblossom.livejournal.com
No airplane involved, just the U2 tour balloon.

But isn't U2 an airplane?

I didn't know that. So that's two bands named after airplanes.

Before U2 was a band it was an international incident.

Between NCLB and budget cuts they've had to make drastic changes to school curricula, including leaving out such vital topics as which airplanes have bands named after them. A cryin' shame, I tell ya.

We should circulate a petition for a green initiative for dirigibles!

Even more so if it was sponsored by Anna's, which provided free food, and then some clever monkey could figure out a way to capture the resultant.... errrr.... natural gas.

I agree. Where is the surprise in hearing the same two or three mediocre engine designs go overhead every day?

Also passenger pigeons, but that will have to wait for advances in cloning technology.

Until then, are we substituting by giving all Marthas free hot-air balloon rides over the square?

Blimp noise can be annoying, since they can hover above you for a long time. An advertising blimp was a nuisance at my college graduation.
