Design Annex Event @ Grand on Friday evening

Come to Grand this Friday evening from 6-8PM to help launch Design Annex, a new co-working space for the creative economy.



What’s the Design Annex, you ask? The Design Annex provides the resources for small firms and solo practitioners in design fields in Somerville and surrounding communities to grow their businesses. Slated to open in June 2009, the facility includes a co-working space with conference room, lounge with a resource library, shared equipment, and ventilated model building studio. With a tiered membership structure that offers access to networking and educational programming as well as office and equipment resources, the Design Annex seeks to build a robust network of collaborative, thriving, design-related businesses centered in Union Square, Somerville. Brought to you by Union Sq Main Streets.

Food and drinks will be provided. Come on by and join as we celebrate this exciting NEW addition to Union Square!

That's wonderful to see. I won't be around on Friday for the launch, but as someone who has referred people to Beta House in Cambridge I'll be doing the same for Design Annex.

Actually, sounds a bit like the never-built 'Connections Center' proposal (look back in the sacco's bowl-haven tag for posts about it)

We're simply hosting the event so I'm in no way going to talk on behalf of Union Sq Main Streets, but that said in my mind this is simply co-working space for designers and design related businesses. But I would also think that if it helps "incubate" designers to join forces and create new biz opportunities then all the better.

Personally speaking I think it's a brilliant concept. I wish I thought of it.
