Hi All -
Thought some of you might be interested in this forum happening Monday, April 13 at Tufts. Guests include Chris Matthews, Michael Dukakis and Janet Wu.
Fourth Annual Edward R. Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism: Digging Too Deeply? Headlines, Politics, and Public Service
MSNBC's Chris Matthews will discuss the levels of media scrutiny on those in public service today at this year's Murrow Forum. Currently a television news anchor of two shows on MSNBC and NBC, Matthews will draw on his experience as a broadcast journalist, newspaper bureau chief, presidential speechwriter, and bestselling author.
Panelists:
Chris Matthews, host of "Hardball with Chris Matthews" on MSNBC, "The Chris Matthews Show" on NBC, and regular commentator on NBC's "Today" show
Michael Dukakis, former Massachusetts governor and former U.S. presidential nominee
Janet Wu, state house reporter and investigative reporter for WCVB-TV in Boston
WHEN:
Monday, April 13, 2009
12 noon
WHERE:
Barnum, Room 008
Tufts University's Medford/Somerville campus
RSVP is not required, but seating is limited.
The inspiration for this forum is legendary broadcaster Edward. R. Murrow, who used television to expose Senator Joseph McCarthy's controversial crusade against American citizens at the height of the Cold War. His legacy reminds a new generation of the power, and responsibility, of a free press. The Edward R Murrow Forum on Issues in Journalism is sponsored by the Communications and Media Studies Program, the Murrow Center of Public Diplomacy at The Fletcher School, and Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.
