Hi all! I'm brand new here (moved on Wednesday from Seattle) and I live in between Porter and Davis Square. What are some cool places to check out. Stores, restaurants, coffee shops, anything really. I'm a vegetarian, so any good veggie restaurant suggestions would be appreciated too. Of course places in Cambridge or near the Longwood Medical area are good too.

Welcome!

I love Johnny D's (http://www.johnnydsuptown.com/) for its live concerts and very good food. Davis sq.

Manray night club (http://angeldustrial.com/ray/) is another great place is in Cambridge. It is hard to describe... Also depends on your personal taste... I don't want to set any expectations or bias you, so hit the link and read... Central sq.

MIT museum (http://web.mit.edu/museum/) is a very interesting place! I take there all my friends who come visit us in Boston. I was there hundreds of times - still find it interesting :) Central sq.

Museum of Science (http://www.mos.org/) Science Park T stop (green line) or ten-minute walking distance from Charles MGH (red line)

Harvard University Art Museums (http://www.harvard.edu/museums/) (Sackler, Fogg, and Bush – not big but very nice). They have a day (once a week or a month) when enrtance is for free – call and ask about it. They work Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Harvard sq. red line

Also I took the tour over the Harvard campus – it was interesting too :)

You can order free tickets or coupons to some great pleces in Boston (MFA, Science museum, etc.) through public libraries.

Do you have a car? Let me know if you need a ride... we can try to arrange something!
