Looking for recommendations for anyone who is dealt with contractors-Or know of anyone who specializes in this type of work. My basement is finished and is in healthy enough condition but when we get a good amount of rain I start taking in water. Before I got the house it appears some work had been done but it was not enough and needs to be done right; and once that is taken care I know I will be able to get a better handle on the moisture

check into b-dry systems -- my last house had a nice dry basement in a rather boggy area, thanks to them.

First thing to check is to make sure that all of your gutter downspouts
move water away from the foundation, and subsequently make sure that soil is sloped
away from the house. If your house is where a stream used to be (eg, Simpson/Paulina),
those will likely not be adequate. But fixing my downspout made a huge difference
for my basement.

All you need is a great basement waterproofing chemicals. This will permanently fix your problem of leakage during rains.
