my boyfriend and i just visited the teele square cafe this morning and had a great breakfast!

here's the rundown:
we both had the "working man breakfast" with two eggs over easy, toast, hash browns and coffee. we ordered extra potatoes, and a side of bacon.

service was bubbly and friendly, and our coffees were served immediately with the previously promised soy milk -hooray!- in to-go cups (which was really nice after we finished eating to take on a walk, and I suppose it also helps free up tables more quickly).

breakfast came shortly after, and had that well-seasoned restaurant griddle smell. eggs were cooked perfectly, semi-runny yolks, crispy buttery edges. toast was oaty/nutty whole wheat with generous butter. potatoes were flavorful and tossed with sauteed peppers and onions (could have been a little crispier, but the spicing was spot on). the bacon was impressive, very crisp, but not burnt, seemingly flattened with a grill press.

the portions of the breakfasts we ordered without the extra potatoes and bacon would have most likely left us wanting more, as we are used to the gluttony of johhny d's brunch, but the pricing was definitely reasonable and encouraged me to just order the sides, which altogether was less cash than a normal brunch at JD's. (we spent $16, total)

i will totally be back to try something new there soon!

May have a stroke at some point. If he keeps eating eggs and bacon!

i've heard their coffee isn't that good. how much of a coffee snob are you? i'd like to hear from a self-proclaimed coffee snob.

I think the coffee is fine, and I like good coffee. In general I am glad that someone is taking some steps to make that place work. Breakfast is a good idea, as is having anything that's not just 'treats'. I hope they thrive there. The food I have had is great.

Bread Pudding... try it!

We went there on Sunday as well (had been Saturday a week ago, and missed breakfast, though I very much enjoyed their Breakfast Sandwich on some-big-number-of-grain bread, which they still had at the time).

Definitely worth going back again. Good omelets (felt like lots of egg, which is fine with me).

But the real show-stealer was when I noticed they had some bread pudding in the cooler display. Figured I'd grab some for dessert (it was 3, forgive me ;-).
A *huge* portion, and absolutely delicious. Banana. Try it.
I've saved some for today. And that was a challenge!

I've had several things. I keep coming back to the grilled PB & J on whole wheat. SO GOOD. Although I guess that is not a difficult thing to make. Anyway, it's expensive, but I will continue to go back because (a) everyone is always super-friendly and (b) it is a 5-minute walk from my house.
