Hey davis_square, help me out and pass on the word. I've got a room available for the summer (as early as the weekend of May 15, though June 1 is fine too, and up through August 31) on Highland Ave, 10 minutes walk from both Porter and Davis. It's a great 2br apartment in a building with laundry, elevator, dishwasher, A/C in the apartment (score for summer!), free heat, and I pay for the cable and internet! (Bigger bedroom, so I've gotta make it fair somehow.)

The apartment is furnished and the bedroom can be too (bed, bookcase, desk), though I can get rid of the furniture if you want to bring your own. Rent is $692.50/mo and a security deposit of half of that would be returnable upon moveout. Though I will 80% sure be moving out in September, if you're looking for next year, too, it should be very easy to sign the lease over to you!

I'm a full-time Harvard employee in my 20s, non-smoker, busy and pretty quiet except for occasional bursts of applause while watching Sox games :) Two cats live here so cat-friendly is a must, and they would probably be willing to welcome one more for the summer.

Hello Julie! Heat, water, cable TV, and internet are included (my room is bigger so I pay for the latter two to make up the balance). Electric is variable - last summer we enjoyed the AC a lot and were willing to pay the $140ish average bill ($70/person) for that. But I'd be willing to cut back on that a bit. In the cooler months w/o AC electric is usually $60-$70 total, half that per person.
