Two community meetings this week:

Powder House Community School Re-Use Discussion
Tues May 19th 7-8:30pm
Tufts Admin Building 167 Holland St
Discuss community input on re-use options for the Powder House School on Broadway. (I have no idea what the options are)

Ward 6 ResiStat meeting
Wed May 20th 7pm
Community Room of the First Congregational Church 89 College Ave
Department Heads and elected officials will be at the meeting to provide updates and hear concerns.
*I went to the last Ward 6 ResiStat meeting, and there were more city employees than Ward 6 residents. Don't just complain to LiveJournal. Show up to the meeting and complain to people who might actually be able to do something about it.

Thanks for posting these announcements. I'd really like the city ResiStat people to post them directly here. I have no idea why they don't do so.

That previous Ward 6 ResiStat meeting was the day after the November election, so I suspect many people were too tired out from that to attend. Also, ResiStat in this ward is somewhat redundant with the much more established and regular Davis Square Task Force meetings.

Also-ResiStat? No, I won't decline to go just because of a silly name, but why the devil are they called that? It puts me right off.

i agree. Well, technically I live in Medford, and *thats* why I wouldn't go, but the name doesn't help. :)

part of the reason i've never been interested in going to a resistat event is that i have no idea what it is. from the name i've always assumed that it is a some sort of resistance group that is anti-something. from the context of this post, however, i am guessing that it is a government sponsored event. but what is the event for? who is the event for? what kinds of topics are brought up and for what purposes?

Back when [livejournal.com profile] ethanfield was involved with ResiStat, he posted an explanation (scroll down to comments)
