While taking the train home last night, I passed through Kendall Square around..9:30? And what to my wondering eyes should appear on the platform across from us before the train took off again?

The Spare Change Scammer.

Didn't look like he had any newspapers with him (surprise surprise) but his distinct fashion sense gave him away.

Figured I'd share the sighting.

I saw him a few weeks ago trying to "sell" a paper to a college kid. First, he tried to sell to me, I just looked at him and said "Oh, hell no." Then he moved to her and started his schpiel and was giving her the hard press and I leaned in and said "Don't give this guy any money, he's the biggest scammer on the red line." He sort of looked at me and looked at her and moved on. The girl thanked me profusely.

I felt like a anti-scam crusader!
