Municipal Offices Closed on Bunker Hill Day, Wed 6/17; School and Trash Pickup Schedules Unchanged

Please note that, despite the Bunker Hill Day holiday on Wednesday, June 17th, trash and recycling pickup will continue on its regular schedule throughout the week.

Public schools will be open Wednesday on their regular schedules, but municipal offices will be closed.

Somerville is the only community in Middlesex County to celebrate this This holiday, which commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill in Charlestown on June 17, 1775. At the time the battle was fought and for another sixty-seven years thereafter, the area that became the City of Somerville was part of Charlestown and of Suffolk County, which is why our city joins in the remembrance of this significant event in the founding of our nation.
