Grocery stores/markets?
Jul. 9th, 2009 09:53 amHi everyone,
I'm excited to be relocating to Davis Square from the midwest next month. When my roommate and I were exploring the area on a recent trip, we weren't able to find any grocery stores or markets. We were on a stressful apartment-hunting trip, so we could have completely missed them.
We'll be living right by the T, so if anyone can let me know where we can get our groceries in the area, that would be great. I checked the tags, but didn't have much luck there.
Anything else we need to know about the area?
Thanks in advance!
edit: Important info - I will not be bringing a car.

Date: 2009-07-09 03:54 pm (UTC)A) I shop at MB nine times out of ten because it's closer, cheaper, and has a great produce section, but it IS crowded beyond belief at all times. I generally take a zen attitude to that (it's just me and a basket, darting between carts), but the crowding is sometimes stressful.
B) Downtown Wines and Spirits in Davis is a great store, and I've walked down to shop there many times (I live much closer to Union). They have an excellent selection, the staff is always upbeat and friendly, and I have never browsed for wine without being offered help. Sometimes I take it, and I've gotten good recommendations, but when I say I just want to browse, they leave me alone. I think it's cheaper than Liquor World in Porter Square, too.
I love Reliable Market and the many small food marts scattered around Union.
Hey, I didn't know there was a farmer's market in Union--where do they meet?
