Tonight at WSAC is the closing reception for Lee Kilpatrick's photography show, "Spatial Relations", from 6-9 PM.
Since our opening for the show this month was on July 3rd, some of our friends were out of town for the holiday. To make up for it, and just as an excuse to have another event, we are having a closing reception this Saturday, July 25, from 6-9 PM. Come see some photos and have some pickles, beverages, etc. I think we will finally be breaking out the Lancers this time, so it should be extra-special!

SOMERVILLE, MA - The Washington Street Art Center presents the
closing of photographer Lee Kilpatrick's new work, Spatial Relations,
on Saturday, July 25th. Through candid images, Kilpatrick examines the
ways in which people and their environment impact each other,
utilizing both conventional and panoramic photography.
"My goal is to take pictures of people who are unaware of the
photographer, but also unaware of themselves," says Kilpatrick.
Captured in everyday activities, such as waiting in an airport,
holding an umbrella, or lying in a hospital bed, the subjects reveal
internal and often private moments.
In Kilpatrick's current show, "space" can mean anything from an
airport waiting area to the vast body of a camel. The subjects
interact with the physical space of their environment, but also
become compositional elements interacting with negative space.
The Washington Street Art Center houses Gallery 321, hosts studio
space for more than twenty visual artists, and presents exhibitions,
concerts, film series, and other art initiatives. The Center
participates in Somerville Open Studios each May and an annual open
studios and craft fair in December.
The Washington Street Art Center is between Union Square and Beacon
Street, a five-minute walk from Union Square and a ten-minute walk
from Harvard Square (two blocks from Beacon Street). The Center is
near or on the following bus routes: 87, 83, 86, and 91. Parking is
free and ample.
