Out of curiosity, how did it get returned to you? Post Office notified you? Police? Delivered to your door?

It was dropped in a postal box. After that, it was sent to the lost articles office, which packaged it up and sent it to me.

I once lost an address book, then a week or so later, got a postage-due notice delivered to me. When I got to the post office and paid the $1.10 or so, they handed me an envelope with the address book in it. Probably someone had just dumped it in a mailbox.

I was lucky when I lost my wallet. I kept a few business cards in there, so the guy who found it called my office phone.
