Small piece of lumber?
Aug. 11th, 2009 10:20 amHey,
I'm looking for a very small piece of lumber. In particular I'm looking for an approximately 20" long piece of 1x6, preferably cedar but pretty much anything would do. Does anyone happen to have some 1x6 lying around or know a place around here that I could pick up a piece of scrap? If I went to Home Depot I'd have to pay for a full board, which is kinda silly when I only need 20". I'm hoping someone has a piece lying around. note: Color doesn't matter, so even if it's already painted that's okay.
Thanks!
EDITED: Wood obtained. Thank you for all your suggestions.

Date: 2009-08-11 02:47 pm (UTC)If you want Cedar then go to Boulter Plywood (www.boulterplywood.com) over on Broadway (up by the freeway underpass over to Home Depot. They have a good selection of plain wood in addition to a great selection of plywoods. They also will cut and they can guarantee accuracy of the cut unlike HD.

Date: 2009-08-11 05:33 pm (UTC)* HD is my last resort for buying wood since they store it wrong and the moisture content of their warehouses is so far off.

Date: 2009-08-11 05:39 pm (UTC)My favorite thing about them is that they guarantee their cuts to 1/32" of an inch so I can use them to do the finish cuts on large panels. My shop is too restrictive to make cutting large panels safe on my table saw.
