Introducing Boston.com/somerville
Aug. 12th, 2009 10:59 amHi everyone,
David Dahl from the Globe here.
I'm writing to introduce Boston.com/somerville, a new website focused on your community.
The site is the spot where you can catch up with news and information about Somerville.
It provides links to local blogs and discussion groups, as well as opportunities for you to post comments and listings about local events. You'll also see blog postings from Travis Andersen, the town correspondent, and other stories about Somerville that appear elsewhere in the Globe and on boston.com.
We heard from many of you when we made the difficult decision to close City Weekly. This site is an answer to those concerns, providing an online outlet for you to get news about Somerville. Rest assured, though, this is not the only spot you will get news and information from the Globe and Boston.com: we're still covering Somerville in Globe North, and in other parts of the daily Globe.
As many of you may know, the Globe and boston.com have launched a series of these Your Town hyperlocal sites. We now have 12 sites around the region. We've had a great response from readers and the sites have helped us focus even more intently on local news.
The sites work best when you, the readers, participate. We have places where you can do that now -- by posting a comment, an event listing, or by submitting a column that we can post. We are interested in hearing from you to find out how we can do more.
Check out the site, and tell us what you think. You can reach me at dahl@globe.com or Travis at travis.m.andersen@gmail.com.
Thanks for your interest.
