I have tons of scrap wood that I would like to give away. Anything in particular that you are looking for? I can be reached at: jeff AT artslidesboston DOT COM
If you are up for a little drive, and not looking for totally free, I can also really recommend Habitat for Humanity's ReStore. There are two in MA: http://www.habitat.org/cd/env/restore_detail.aspx?place=66
Basically, they're like a Goodwill for contractors. Contractors hit the end of a job (plumbing, wiring, building, painting, yadda), and they have overage that's not really enough for the next job, or not reusable because of various laws or just because it's difficult. They donate for the tax receipts, and then people can buy them for cheap. Selection is broad but random (ie, you want paint, you need to go in thinking 'I want something pale green,' not 'I want this colour chip.'). All income goes to support Habitat for Humanity building.
