Alderman Gewirtz will be hosting a meeting regarding the proposed development at 343-349 Summer St. Development involves the parking lot adjacent to the Dilboy Post / Winter Hill Bank Building and the "shaft site". Currrent proposal is for a 4 story 40,000sqft mixed commercial / residential building on the lot with 30 condos and a new 8000sqft VFW post on the shaft site with parking. Developer will be presenting plans at the meeting.
This large project will require a special permit, 2 variances and moving a bar license to the new VFW site so community involvement is essential.

Date: 2009-09-26 02:14 pm (UTC)The reason that the VFW is involved is that the developer has been prevented from building on the shaft site. So they have come up with the property swap to allow both to get something built. VFW gets shaft site and developer builds in VFW parking lot. I am sure also that the VFW gets a pile of money.
