Looks like they was some filming going on down the highland ave area, at least that's what I could tell from the yellow signs saying "Home Base", "Town", "Crew", "Catering" and things of that nature, plus many trucks that had set stuff on it.  Any idea what they're filming?  It looked like the most action was happening on the side streets next to Somerville Hospital.

Thanks!

Yes, it's The Town with Ben Affleck.

Your best source for info like this is the Loaded Gun Boston blog.

Tom Cruise's Wichita has also been reported filming in Somerville. I'd love to hand him a Xenu Leaflet.

oh! they're DIFFERENT MOVIES. i knew the affleck thing was filming around here (complete with things set up at the twin city plaza the other day), and heard that cruise was in town, and i just figured it was for the same project.

wow, whoever's been in charge of smoothing things over for producers who want to shoot here has been doing a heck of a job. it's nice to see boston pieces actually set in boston, rather than with one or two exterior shots and then the rest of it shot in vancouver or portland. (yeah, "leverage", i'm looking at you)

thanks for the loaded blog pointer. fun reading.

Affleck lives (well, has a condo) on the street that The Friendly Eating Place was down south of Harvard Square, if I recall aright. He's always been a passionate local boy who tells local stories, *here*.

Good taste. I've always loved that street and vowed to move there when I am rich

I'm going to assume, among other things, that you get a pass from all the draconian parking rules if you sign a film contract. ;-)

Probably you pay the city a daily fee, the same as if you wanted to reserve spaces for a moving van.

I believe that Ben Afflecks' wife, Jennifer Garner, is also from the area, or has family in the area, so they often live here (Cambridge) for extended periods while they're filming.
