STOLEN BICYCLE
Oct. 11th, 2009 06:53 pmMy bike was stolen tonight (Sunday, October 11th) from behind the Davis T Station between 12:30 pm and 6:15 while I was at Honk. It is a green 2009 Diamondback Vital 1 with a u-lock mount below the seat (no u-lock though...it's in my possession). I have filed a police report. If you see it or anything suspicious...please contact me ASAP (erin.markee at yahoo dot com).
Thank you. Since tomorrow is my birthday, I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the gift of sadness this jerk decided to give me.

Date: 2009-10-12 08:04 am (UTC)Of course there's no foolproof way to lock a bike, but your story might motivate me to purchase one of those huge-ass chains.
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear this. I hope your birthday turns out well anyway, despite that loser.

Date: 2009-10-12 11:23 pm (UTC)I was an easy steal by my own locking error (I have the lock and the wheel still) but at the same time you would like to think that some jerk wouldn't come along, unscrew your wheel and walk off with most of your bike.
In your case, I think you will be ok as long as you properly lock it all. Definitely insure the bike and be aware that thieves are out there, even in pure daylight on a busy day.
