(I also sent this to the medford_mass list, but it has such little traffic I'm wondering if anyone but me actually is on that list! But since Davis Square area often includes Tufts/Medford people, this is relevant here too)
I've been recently married (see userpic!) and as such, have been busy with wedding/honeymoon/etc and have not paid attention to local politics. However, lately I've seen a lot of posters with names on them in lawns in Medford, as if there's an election soon for Town Council (??) and I've missed it all.
If there is, can someone help me?
1. Confirm the date of the election (is it the first tuesday in November?)
2. Who are the candidates?
3. Is there a sample ballot anywhere online?
4. What office(s) are up for election?
5. What are the views of each of the candidates so I can make an informed decision?
6. Will there be any town/county/state "questions" I'll be considering for the election?
Yours for a more well informed populance - PRIOR to the election day!

the rest of this info is kind of hard to find. I'd recommend looking for local newspapers on line. And if you live in town, you might get calls and paper mailings from candidates.

I didn't call City Hall, they're always apparently closed when I decide I want a Medford question answered. I think they close at 3 pm or else they have a camera hidden near me and decide to close every time I pick up the phone....

Date: 2009-10-26 08:22 pm (UTC)There are no state offices or questions on the ballot. Regular state elections are only in even-numbered years. (Though we're having a special state election for senator later this year.)
You may want to join, or at least look in on, the MedfordMass Yahoo Group. Also the Globe's Medford page and the Medford Transcript.
