Can people bring their own lunch?

I like the idea of networking lunch meetings. I just don't like the idea of eating food prepared by someone else, these days.

OK. Sorry, I thought this was more than an excuse to bring business to Johnny D.

I think you've uncovered the Secret Johnny D's Take-Over Plot!!!!!!

I don't understand why you said this.

I don't know why nvidia said it, but that issue is what keeps me from attending these meetings. They tend to be at places where there is nothing on the menu that I can eat, but even if there was, I can make my own higher-quality lunch for a fraction of the price.

Clearly Johnny D's (or Green Tomato, or whichever business hosts the event) makes money off of hosting these events, which isn't in and of itself wrong, but it'd be nice to have a brown bag DARBI lunch sometime, or at least brown-bag-optional.

(PS: I tried to check their lunch menu online and can't find it. The other menus appear to be there.)

Perhaps these meetings should be at public places paid for by our taxes, where people can bring their own snacks or food if they like. The fact they are not, and that attendees have to pay $12 to eat a certain salad and sandwich is odd. Is part of the $12 going to pay for administrative fees of some sort? I understand that the restaurants usually would not like to have people sitting there who are not buying their stuff, but this is just a reason not to have these meetings at restaurants.

Promoting local restaurants is entirely consistent with the mission of DARBI, so hosting a networking lunch at Johnny D's and asking attendees to cover the cost of their food and DARBI's administrative fees actually makes total sense.

Also, I do like the idea of having brown-bag or potluck lunches at a non-restaurant venue. Perhaps you could find other interested people to help organize that. Which public places are you thinking of?
