Illuminations Tour tickets went on sale today at Blue Cloud Gallery in Ball Square. A line had already formed at 11 when the store opened. So if you want tickets, you may want to get them soon.

Somerville Voices has a discussion going on about whether the Illuminations Tour is consistent with Somerville's efforts to encourage energy efficiency. Please read it and chime in, everyone.

I've yet to go on the tour. Are there any reasons to try to get on an earlier or later trolley?

along these lines, any knowledge of tours that will be more kid oriented (obviously earlier ones); someone previously mentioned some tours are more singing oriented?

It also depends on who's on the tour. I can't make people sing if they don't want to, but I'd always happy to have a singing tour since it means I can talk a little less. :)

If you go too early, it's not fully dark and you won't get the full effect of some of the lighting. I'd avoid the 4:30 tours in particular. I think even 5:00 is on the early side, but you can ride with surrealestate which more than makes up for any lingering twilight.

According to a volunteer list that I received today, "Tom Champion/Jimmy Del Ponte" are leading the 7:30 "A" and 8:45 "A" trolleys. I don't know if this means they are doing it jointly, or if they haven't decided who is doing which trip. EDIT: Tom Champion e-mailed me to say that he and Jimmy are doing both trips together.

I'll be working at the welcome/sales table from 5:30 to 7:30.

I know I'm not the most prolific poster, but I'm leading the 7:30 B - yeah, up against the Voice Of Somerville - and I really, really like to sing and be all camp-counselorish!

But I am totally getting Tom C to autograph my Illuminations map first :)
