Tonight's Midnight Madness sales

Tonight is Midnight Madness in Davis Square, and I am super excited.

I called the participating stores to get an idea of the sales they're offering. THESE SALES ARE NOT OFFICIAL AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE!



Artifaktori — Not yet official: 10-20% off most stuff

Black and Blues — Starting with 10% and going up by the hour to 40%

The Boston Shaker — Didn’t answer phone; contacted them via their website an am awaiting a response. I’ll edit the post if I get one!

Dave’s Fresh Pasta — All samples and items offered in tastings will be up to 20% off: wine reps with 8 different wines for tasting, a beer tasting, Taza chocolate tasting, as well as others of Dave’s offerings.

Davis Squared — 6p-9p: 10% off; 9p-11p: 15% off; 11p-12a: 20% off

Kickass Cupcakes — discounting cupcakes all night; discounts increase throughout the night

La Chic Boutique — $3 dvds, $2 cd, and 20% off items in the store

Magpie — 25% off items, and possibly more (store owner is still working out discounts)

Poor Little Rich Girl — They told me the discounts, but asked me not to tell anyone else. However, let me assure you that the discounts are good and will be worth your time to check it out (especially if you love this store as much as I do).

Suneri — Progressive discounts until midnight (up to 30%); giveaways with each purchase; refreshments

Sunshine Lucy’s — Sales on records: $1-$3, smaller pieces coming in for tonight, many discounts on smaller pieces

When Pigs Fly: roll dice to save % off one loaf of bread until midnight (so, a roll of 2 gets you 20% off, etc.).



Sales seem MUCH better this year than they did last year.

The dice roll is a great idea!

Boston Shaker, I assume signed up just in case they were open. As of 6pm they were dark and still had paper on the windows.

Everywhere was packed, which was great to see, but at the same time, it was disappointing to see an utter lack of manners amongst shoppers. It was rare to hear "excuse me" or see anyone make an effort to move out of the way when passing by or trying to make way in or out of a store. Dave's was a nightmare.

Polite when tapped

I found that while people were everywhere -- esp. at Dave's -- they were really polite and friendly. I asked a few for room to pass, and they'd graciously step back/up or to the side. Several folks started conversations about food and drinks also, which is pretty friendly for this area. All told, a great event for shoppers and store-keepers alike.

Best crowds at D-squared, Best eats at Dave's Fresh, Best wares at Sunshine Lucy's, the new store with furniture new/old/recycled/reupholstered. Wow, I can still spell this late...bed time now!

I got to When Pigs Fly around 11:50 pm, by which time they had sold every loaf of bread in the store except for two loaves of low-calorie whole-wheat. Great for them, not so good for me ;-( I'll stop by there again Friday morning.
