I thought they did something wacky like import dough from H&H, then boil and bake in house. They are pretty good, though.
I'm ok with Kupel's, and with Iggy's, which are what's served/sold at True Grounds and sold at Dave's Fresh Pasta. Dave's also has day-old bagels cheap in the freezer, which is good for if you have to toast them anyway. (I am a firm believer in toasting bagels only when already slightly stale anyway - a perfectly fresh bagel needs no toasting.)
Imported H&H bagels are always a let-down. Something happens in the trip from 80th & Broadway, and they're just not the same. They end up sorta... flattened, or smooshed, or something. They're weird. You also miss the opportunity to stand on line, get jostled by old ladies, scream your order, and get yelled at by the bagel people, but that's another problem entirely.
