I know I live near an airport, but this issue has alot of history. When the new runway was built it was supposed to be used around 6% of the time, only during northwest winds. The reality is that it is used much more often than it should be. Before this runway, there were hardly any planes here.
Another thing to consider is that Somerville homes were not soundproofed like the ones near the original flight paths, like in Chelsea and East Boston.
