Ticketing for Street Cleaning?

At the time of the season's first snowstorm last December, the City of Somerville announced that street cleaning was to be suspended for the remainder of the year.  As far as I know, they haven't made such an announcement this time.  Obviously street cleaning will be impossible once the emergency is lifted (at least for several days), but could they still be ticketing for illegal parking per the street cleaning schedule?

You'd think that common sense would prevail here, but having recently been ticketed for parking near a fire hydrant that had been labelled "out of service" for weeks, I know that isn't always the case with the city.

I think a space being marked for a fire hydrant trumps whether the hydrant works or not. After all, if it's broken then they'll need get to at it and fix it.

FWIW, the space was not marked for a fire hydrant. And since the "out of service" sign was bolted onto the hydrant, I'd go with "defunct" rather than "broken."

The best thing to do for a definitive answer on this is call 311. That's what it's there for.

This press release says that street cleaning is over for the year, although I didn't see that in the robo-call announcement or email.

Also, the City of Somerville reminds residents that it has already discontinued all street sweeping enforcement for the month of December.

When did this happen? I got ticketed on the 1st.

I also wonder when this took effect. I got ticketed just this past week. For some reason, I thought street sweeping stopped in December.

The scheduled end date for street sweeping is December 31st. The sweepers were out this week on Putnam and I assume the tickets were out as well. I haven't received an official notification of the end of the service this year either.
