I'm seeking a recommendation for someone who can repair the band on my watch. The band is a metal cuff that's attached to the watch by some kind of spring hinges (so you can open the cuff to get it on your wrist and then close it around your wrist).

One of the spring hinges has given up the ghost. My guess is that the best person to repair this would be someone who repairs the clockwork bits of watches. Can anyone recommend such a person? Or someone else in a different line of work (jewelry repair?) who'd be able to fix a problem like this?

(Someplace I can get to via the T or the bus would be preferable but not necessary.) Thanks!

I took my watch it for a simple repair, and they said it would take 2 weeks and cost $80. I took it to a jeweler in Davis (now defunct) and the man there fixed it on the spot and charged me $5.

Shop around!

I really miss that place and that old guy. He was really nice and helped me out when I needed.
