Looking for Retail Space in Davis Square

 The lease for Your Move Games will be ending this summer, and we are beginning to look around to see if there might be a better space available.  I'm aware of the empty space over Sagra on Highland Ave.  Does anyone know of any other place that might be available?  

The space needs to be:

• at least 1500 s.f. in size
• cheap (yeah I know, unlikely, so probably basement or 2nd floor space)
• somewhere near Davis Sq

Is Ball Square too far away? There tend to be empty retail slots around there & Powderhouse lately.

I talked to the broker, and she didn't even hint at that. Apparently there is another level to the rear that Sagra has access to, but I am unsure.

Your Move Games is already in the neighborhood, on Highland Ave (attached to the side of the Rite-Aid.) But the space is really awkward as a retail + event space, thus the search for better space is on.

I don't know if it's too far a walk, but there's an empty storefront or two in Teele. Bremis Realty seems to have a stranglehold on space there, I'd give them a call.

The space next to Boston Burger Company has been empty for many months now.

I don't know when it will be done, but the owner of 212 Elm (Davis Square Real Estate LLC) is planning on turning the 1st floor space there (across from Goodwill) into 2 retail spaces. They've been talking about trying to get an Officemax or Staples (I forget which) into the larger space, and a smaller, locally-owned tenant into the other. I can't remember what sf they are talking about for either space, or rent, though the total area is about 4300. The planning office or Rebekah Gerwitz could get you a better update, I'm sure.

In particular, there's space in the ground floor if the condo building on Broadway across the street from the Bremis office. IIRC it's 2000-2500 sq ft, and it's been vacant for at least a year and a half so maybe they're flexible on price.

Wow, if the space next to BBC is big enough and cheap enough, that'd actually kind of rock. It's not like the trip from the T stop to YMG's current location is terribly arduous, but that'd be right in the middle of the freaking square.

If you're still looking, the White Hen in Ball Square is closing in March. :-( It's not Davis-proper, but I bet it's cheaper than Davis.
