Jan. 15th, 2010 11:14 pm[Poll #1512191]
Given the recent hysteria about the upcoming election ( http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/01/coakley_underes.html ), do you think Brown will win?

Date: 2010-01-16 03:15 pm (UTC)The Suffolk U. poll was a fluke, probably.

Date: 2010-01-16 04:14 pm (UTC)Sadly not. I think we're going to have Sen. Brown (R-MA)
Date: 2010-01-16 04:15 pm (UTC)Brown's campaign was a sneak attack on sleeping liberals.
And really Martha Coakley never did anything to get us involved. Have you seen a single bumper sticker in Somerville or Cambridge? Was anyone here ever contacted by her campaign? I cannot tell you how many liberals I contacted who were surprised that there was even an election on January 19, or who simply stated they were too disinterested or busy to vote?
There was an ulterior motive behind my "non-partisan" reminders about absentee ballots.
The ARG poll came out last night, pretty much confirming the results of the Suffolk poll and Martha Coakley's own internals. Anything can happen between now and Monday. Voters may have some remorse over Scott Brown between now and then, but it appears that everything Martha Coakley does backfires. Whatever she does now is likely too little too late.
I think it is now more likely than not that we will have Sen. Brown. My bet was a 49/49/2 split, with Brown coming out ahead. I think it is a powerful reminder for liberals to never fall asleep and take something for granted. The good news? This seat warmer's there only for 2+ years, and he goes up for reelection with Obama on the top of the ballot.
Lots of similarities between Brown and Bush
Date: 2010-01-16 04:19 pm (UTC)If Coakley had not stopped campaigning for a month, and had defined Brown for what he is (another Bush) instead of letting Brown define himself, she wouldn't have this problem. It's too little too late for her, I fear.
I don't think Capuano would have taken things for granted. Perhaps he'll run against Brown in 2012?
Just look at this turkey with the George Bush shirt (from CNN ad):
I only hope you're right

Date: 2010-01-16 05:09 pm (UTC)We saw this with Kerry in 2004, and Dukakis in 1988.
It's pretty sad to watch such an implosion. I already voted for her, and I hope for a miracle on Tuesday night.
Old right wing tactic
Date: 2010-01-16 05:13 pm (UTC)These stories of a Brown surge from the Globe are being circulated on right wing sites, which pulls them in from all over the country, exacerbating the effect.
Their intent is to try and disillusion any reader of the article and instill despair. That's how they work. Also, think about the kind of people who would do that, and tell me they aren't listening to talk radio in their pajamas.
