i think you mean Pemberton's. they have lots of trees right now (as well as wreaths, garlands, etc.). it is the Garden Center half on the Davis Sq. side of Mass. Ave., *not* the Market half on the other side of it. the trees & such are in their yard (plus poinsettas in the greenhouse).
I've also seen small tree like plants being sold at flower stands. There is a flower selling just inside the entrance to Porter Square T-stop who was selling them for around 20 dollars each. They looked really cute, and like they might even survive as neat houseplants, after the holidays.
we got a tree last night at the corner of Harvard St and Mystic Ave in medford by 93. (they're set up in the lot of a garage on the corner.) lots of selection and the quality is good -- they haven't yet been picked over. figure on spending $30 on a smallish tree if you buy there. (we paid $35 for this one (http://downwardspiral.net/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=treetrimming04&id=IMG_6448))
saw a place by the bus farm on mass ave: if you go away from Davis on the bike path, it'll dump you onto mass ave and the christmas tree stand is right on the corner. breifly biked by this morning so didn't really see anything re: price/sizes. good luck!
