So it's not exactly Davis, but close enough:

When I went out to work tonight (Saturday), I saw a note posted inside the front door of my house.  There have apparently been a few burglaries on and around the Highland Ave. end of Belmont Street recently.  Apparently, my neighbors had a break-in the last day or two (didn't read all that closely), and it's suspected that the thieves had been watching the place for a few days.  They broke in through a ground-floor window, stayed for quite a while, and left with electronics, valuables, and cash.  Reading through Wicked Local, I kind of wonder if it's in any relation to these guys.  And if it is, why they're still out there.

I'm not too worried, as I generally carry my most valuable/expensive/hard-to-replace possessions with me at all times and I'm on the second floor (and if anyone tried to get in, they'd likely fall over something right by a door/window and hurt themselves badly), but keep your eyes peeled.

Just a friendly reminder to keep your windows/doors/other entry-ways secured and re-up on your renter's insurance!

That is scary. Make sure everyone has renter's insurance to cover their stuff. Look into motion-sensing lights.

The best option is to drop a note to your neighbors and see if you can get people to keep an eye out for suspicious characters, or even form a neighborhood watch.

Please let the police know about this if you haven't already done so.
