Somerville Gathering and 49-Day Remembrance
in honor of Susan Woolf
to benefit local domestic violence organizations

In the Buddhist tradition, the soul passes to its new life around 49 days after death. Please come celebrate Susan's life with others, at an informal light brunch gathering and brief Buddhist ceremony.

Like many others, I became acquainted with Susan Woolf through one of her many community involvements - for me, it was the Bikeway Community Garden, where Susan was one of the first Coordinators - a position I currently hold. If I had been involved in the local art scene, the Friends of the Library, or active with RESPOND, I might have met her as well. I have since learned that the Buddhist group Susan was involved with strongly values "human revolution" via informal neighborhood gatherings for the betterment of the community. http://www.sgi-ny.org/about/

Susan once held a party at which guests were asked to make a tax-deductible contribution or a household item for domestic abuse survivors. In this spirit, I will be collecting donations of household items in new or like-new condition to be distributed to RESPOND and Transition House. Please feel free to bring something.

Current needs include : things you know would be useful for someone moving into a new place (non-toxic cleaning products, sponges, mop, dishes, flatware, cups, mugs, dish towels, bath & hand towels, twin and full size cotton sheets in neutral colors, basic tools, gift cards to Target and Market Basket, etc)
