There's a Staples in Davis?

The owner of the Citizens Bank building has proposed to convert the vacant first-floor office space to two retail storefronts, which requires a city permit in order to turn several current windows into doors. Staples has expressed interest in the larger of the two retail spaces, but has not made any former offer.

This was originally built as office space for Somerset Savings Bank's loan operations. After USTrust bought Somerset and then Citizens bought USTrust, the bank no longer needed this space. For a year or two, an architect rented it out as overflow office space, but that's now gone as well.

I think this would be great. It would bring more people down to this end of Davis

VFW/Summer St. "shaft"? [confused]

The developer who owns the Summer Street 'shaft' site (where an MBTA ventilation shaft is now) wants to build a new VFW hall there, and build condos partially in the current adjoining VFW parking lot.

Ah. I know about the VFW project since I've been involved on the VFW side as a member - but the "shaft" is what confused me. Thanks for the clarification.

Could someone who attended this meeting, please post the notes/ minutes from it? I'm curious to see what the updates were on these issues. Sadly, I was unable to attend the meeting due to work. Thank you!
